Code of Conduct (a.k.a; The Rules)

All The Ritual Place affiliated projects are anarchist in nature, and as such we’re not inclined to think too long or too hard about how to govern the behaviour of others.

Do not be mistaken in thinking that anarchism means there are no expectations about how we interact with each other. These "rules" are designed to protect The Ritual Place and its members from objective harm. By participating on these servers you are acting as a member of The Ritual Place, and as such agree to the following rules, divided into softly and strongly enforced:

Strongly Enforced Rules

These rules are usually pretty cut-and-dry, with less room for interpretation and with pretty clear and immediate consequences.

If you are in breach with the following in any way, expect to see the content removed, and with the more aggregious offences an accompanying suspension or ban.

Everyone deserves basic respect

Strictly no racist, casteist, ableist, sexist, transphobic, or otherwise chauvinistic or bigoted discourse, rhetoric, or language; no use of symbols or slogans associated with facist movements; and no derogatory language directed towards oppressed indentity groups.

This rule weighs heavier on those who do not belong to the respective identity group(s) and thus cannot be reclaiming the language or iconography used.
You must uphold a standard of information quality

Members must not spread spam (including unsolicited self-promotion without admin approval); misinformation of any form, including arguments that deny or cast doubt upon historical or ongoing acts of genocide or oppression; or breaks of accepted reality.

Explicit content requires explicit consent

Nobody can distribute pornographic and/or sexualized content depicting people who did not explicitly and openly consent to them being shared, including and not limited to content where the participants depicted are unaware of its existence.

This rule also encompasses all—but especially sexual—content depicting those who cannot give consent, such as minors.
No witch hunts here

Those who are found to be in breach of any of the rules may not use alternative accounts or other techniques to evade blocks, suspensions, or bans; and nobody is permitted to engage in unsolicited recruitment, repeated hostile actions directed towards a specific person or group; or partake in conduct intended to instigate brigading or dogpiling against another, even if done so with righteous intent and motivations.

Keep it legal

Everyone using The Ritual Place servers agree not to engage in any activity that could bring avoidable legal or moderatory repercussions onto yourself or The Ritual Place by nation-states or platform moderators.

Softly Enforced Rules

Unlike the strongly enforced rules, these rules are more often tackled on a case-by-case basis as per the discretion of the moderating team.

Being in breach of these rules may be issued a warning, and problem users may expect to be removed from situations where they have been proven to cause harm.

Give all the power to all the people

By joining you agree not to spread propaganda from political entities that seek to win elections or originating from a nation state; glorifying messages from or about nation states or militarism; promoting pseudoscience or conspiracism; religious proselytizing or recruitment; or messages promoting inherently unbalanced power structures such as capitalism or meritocracy.

Please make use of content warnings

For the sake of your fellow members, everyone is encourage to use appropriate spoilers and content warnings on nudity and sexual or sexualised acts; blood, severe injuries, torture, murder, gore, or medical procedures; depictions of drug use or parahernalia; abuse, self-harm, or suicide; as well as all media spoilers past and present.

Resist the bystander effect

All members are asked to speak up against activity or behaviour in breach of the code of conduct, or otherwise makes you or another member feel threatened, uncomfortable, or unsafe.

Be a community

We would encourage the use of accessability features like captions and descriptive text with visual media for use with screen readers; and discouraging the excessive use of emojis or unicode text symbols in text or usernames.
